Hello All,

I’m Alvin Shepherd, informally known as Big Al. I was born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina. My family heritage however derives from Eastern-North Carolina. This is where I’ve drawn the majority of my inspiration and influence when it comes to Big Al’s Barbecue.

I smoke all of my meats no less than twelve hours. Over the years, I have come up with a great combination of cumin, salt, pepper, crushed red pepper, fresh garlic, brown sugar, and sazon to create the perfect dry rub. This rub is used on all the meats available at Big Al’s BBQ.

While I cannot list all the ingredients to my Big Al’s BBQ sauce, I can mention that it’s ketchup and molasses based, then seasoned to taste. I make my barbecue sauce fresh each order. Seeing that all my sauces and rubs are made to order, if there are any allergies or food restrictions, I am able to accommodate almost every diet, including vegetarian options for the non-meat eaters.
